Misunderstanding of Love
http://sarahljay.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/misunderstanding-of-love/
I was browsing facebook and looking at one person’s profile leads to another person’s profile etc. I came across a “friend” who has just gotten out of a pretty long/serious relationship in the end of 2009. A relationship that claims that they loved each other. Three months later, this “friend” is now with another person and...

Lord, use me.
As my last quarter is approaching here at UCI, the first thought/prayer flows through my mind is, “Lord, strip away my insecurities and imperfections, and USE me!! Give me boldness, a heart for the campus, a heart to do Your will and NOT mine” I was sent here for a purpose and now my time is almost up, I feel like I want/need to do it big. Lord, USE ME.
It is so scary for me to think...

"Clear eyes, full hearts. Can't lose."
I’ve been watching Friday Night Lights lately and I can’t help but see so much Christian imagery through out the show. During practices and games, the Panthers always say, “Clear eyes, full hearts. Can’t lose.” The more I repeat this line, the more it means to me and the more I want to live by it.
When we have “clear eyes,” or when our focus is solely on...
"Change your conduct, or change your name."
During the Miles Miltis Christmas party, Dave shared something really cool from 2 Corinthians 3:2-4. Paul writes to the church of Corinth that they are letters of recommendation of God! This reminded me of a sermon illustration I heard a few months ago about Alexander the Great.
Alexander the Great, who had one of the largest empires in ancient history, was sitting on his throne when one of his...
when i say i am a christian...
I’m not shouting I’m clean livin’. I’m whispering I was lost, now I’m found. When I say I am a Christian, I don’t speak of this with pride. I’m confessing that I stumble & need Christ to be my guide. When I say I am a Christian, I’m not trying to be strong. I’m professing that I’m weak & need His strength to carry on. When I say I am a Christian, I’m not bragging of success. I’m admitting...

daily encouragement from our leader....
“the truth is the truth, 1 plus 1 = 2, no matter how you feel, it’s not going to change.”
Wise words from our wise leader, Allan Buntoengsuk, referring to our faith and the truth of Jesus Christ. No matter what season we are trucking through, especially those dry and windy seasons, God is the truth, no matter how we feel. Let’s not base our faith on emotions but on the...

Quiet servitude
amaranthinehg:
This isn’t meant to be anything too profound or lengthy. Just something simple I’ve come to notice.
I had a thought on Monday night. I was one girl in the presence of many within a crowded and lively living room. Though I was socializing & laughing & seemingly not paying too much attention, my eye was drawn to notice my fellow brothers & sisters in Amaranthine. And...

Confession of sin brings God glory and praise
I came across an interesting verse in the book of Joshua. At first read, it was easy to gloss over, but after studying this particular verse, I found that there was so much to it!
The story starts with the fall of Jericho (ch. 6). After the walls fell on the seventh day in Jericho, God commanded Jacob to destroy everyone and everything except for Rahab, the harlot, and all who were with her. But...
Words of Encouragement
I was doing my devos today and came across this passage and was encouraged by it (promise you it won’t be long and it’ll be encouraging):
[ “But I did obey the LORD,” Saul said. “I went on the mission the LORD assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was...
Don't miss out on His blessings

it didn’t go through! but what I wanted to say was how powerful their impact was by showing others their love and just imagine how much MORE impact WE can make when we show others GOD’s love!

The Girl in the Fifth Row By Leo Buscaglia
On my first day as an assistant professor of education at the University of Southern California, I entered the classroom with a great deal of anxiety. My large class responded to my awkward smile and brief greeting with silence. For a few moments I fussed with my notes. Then I started my lecture, stammering; no one seemed to be listening. At that moment...

oh how He loves us!
We are his portion and he is our prize Drawn to redemption by the grace in his eyes If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking
oh, how He loves us!

"Raising Thirsty Children"
A verse that we often quote, especially when our kids are going astray, is Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (NKJV). We think the way to do that is to raise our kids, basically from birth, in a Christian environment. So, from their very early days, we send them off to Sunday School. We send them to Christian camps....
Bracing
We can take the rain. We’ll embrace it, love it. If you can’t enjoy the rain, you don’t deserve the sunshine. Every step is a struggle but it seemingly becomes easier as each day passes. Recognize the divine and revere it. Persevere under any condition so that you may bring glory to God. No compromise. New beginnings brings new blessings if you move forward every day.

Tonight, as I was packing up all my belongings to move to Irvine, I came face to face with a subtle reminder about the importance of this coming year! So, like I said, I was collecting a hodgepodge of things to bring with me to irvine. For just a quick illustration, I’m going to list out a few things of what I brought; I brought two cartons of organic soymilk, a bag of half eaten multi-grain...
let's GO fishing!
As I was driving back home from the bank, I was listening to KWAVE and the pastor was referring to the passage in Mark 1:17, Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
and he brought up a great point that you use different bait for different fish and how no fish wants to be caught, and it reminded me of my commitment to share the gospel once a week, (i...
